ALL young people deserve to be seen and heard,
receive individualised support, and be able to talk openly about their life.
My Story

Here is some information about me and my journey working with young people:
After having many discussions with young people whilst working in schools as both a Teacher and a Wellbeing Mentor, as well as volunteering with foster families through Anglicare, I learnt the following about young people:
- They all have different goals and aspirations.
- The school environment is fast-paced and often leaves young people feeling like failures and incompetent.
- Our systems don't always cater to neurodiverse individuals.
- There are so many young people needing someone to talk to that most of them end up going unnoticed.
- Many young people don’t feel like they have a safe place to be seen and heard.
- Suppression is a common coping mechanism used by young people to try and manage the pressures and stages of going through childhood / adolescence.
- Many parents find it difficult to open up conversations with their young person about what is going on in their life.
From this, Fresh Start Youth Support was established to provide a safe space for young people to express and work through whatever it is they are needing support with. Whether the young person is:
- Neurotypical
- Neurodiverse
- Primary or secondary school age
- Labelled as the child that displays ‘poor behaviour’ in the classroom
- The ‘daydreamer’ who struggles to focus
- The quiet person that no one notices
- The loud person that everyone notices...
they all deserve to be seen and heard, receive individualised support, and be able to talk openly about their life. No two people are the same which is why each mentor session will look different depending on what the individual needs of the young person are.
If you are a young person, or a young person’s parent, feeling stuck and needing support, please contact me to discuss what we can do to make life enjoyable again.
